The Atlantic Festival, an event that marks the beginning of the summer season in Madeira, will this year integrate a diverse set of initiatives spread throughout the month of June, most importantly the piromusical shows; the Madeira Music Festival and the Regional Arts Week.
The piromusical shows will be held on four consecutive Saturdays of the month of June, at 10:30pm at the pier outside the Pontinha, with wonderful and exciting performances, lasting about 20 minutes each, which combine fireworks and music in a unique experience for tourists and residents.
The Regional Arts Week, is an event of the responsibility of the Coordination Office of Art Education/SRE, introduced for the first time in the Atlantic Festival’s programme, bringing together a set of events, namely the Garden Party, Regional Meetings of Artistic Modalities, a Regional Exhibition of Artistic Expression, and Music, taking place in the Central areas of Avenida Arriaga, Infoarte Space of the SRT/DRT, and the Municipal Garden Auditorium.
Throughout the month of June, the city of Funchal fills up with diverse entertainment, with performances by philharmonic bands, and early summer musical performances, taking place every Saturday, before and after the pyromusical shows, as well as displays of a religious and popular nature, such as the Festival of Popular Saints, the traditional Altars of St. John, and the 23rd Regional Bread Fair, at the Restoration Square.
