Lufthansa starts flying to Madeira

The German airline Lufthansa recently announced its new operation to Madeira, from the airports of Berlin and Dusseldorf.


The new flight from Berlin will start on September 8th, while the flight from Dusseldorf will start later on the 3rd of November, 2012.

The flights have the following schedule:
Arrival at Madeira
BER-FNC 12:25 - 16:10, from 8/Set to 13/Oct
BER-FNC 11:55 - 15:40, from 03/Nov
FNC-DUS 10:45 - 14:00, from 03/Nov

Departure from Madeira
FNC-BER 16:55 - 22:20, from 8/Set to 13/Oct
FNC-BER 16:25 - 21:55, from 03/Nov
FNC-DUS 14:45 - 19:50, from 03/Nov


Both routes are operated in a weekly basis, representing an increase of 13,440 seats.

The German market is the third largest source of tourists to the region of Madeira in 2011 representing approximately 251,000 passengers, ie about 12% of traffic from Madeira Airports.

As a founding member of Star Alliance, with 25 partner airlines, Lufthansa offers the world's largest network of destinations. So, with this direct operation, Madeira will benefit from the extensive number of connections offered by the airline.
