Until the train stops it’s all grape harvest
To celebrate this tradition, CP has created a leisure programme that takes you to know better the wine production process, characteristic of the Douro region in 22 September a programme with duration of 1 day.
A good harvest, plenty of gathering and lots of fun is guaranteed, provided by musical animation, regional singing and local delicacies.
Gather your family, a group of friends or colleagues and explore the traditions of the grape harvest in the Douro region, be part of the “lagaradas” (grape treading) and recreate an emblematic moment if the history of Portuguese vineyard.
Grape-Picking Programme Party:
The train journey* along the Douro line lets you appreciate the beautiful Douro valley wine region, the vine terraces and the wine producing farms.
Arrival in Régua
When you get to Régua there is a bus service that takes you to Quinta de Campanhã, where there are plenty of activities:•Local singers and musicians•Port wine tasting (or fruit juice)•Guided tour of the wine cellars and the production area•Regional lunch•Entertainment with local singers and dances
AfternoonYou can take part in the grape treading where the grapes are trodden in granite presses while the treaders sing and dance to celebrate the end of the wine year.
Proper clothing is advisable, shorts and sandals.
Return to Régua station, where the special train* will departure to Porto Campanhã (* In a power car in the Porto Campanhã/Régua/Porto Campanhã route).
Note: Mini-bar service available onboard the trains.
The Grape-Picking Programme ticket price includes the return train journey, round-trip transfer between the station and Quinta de Campanhã, a glass of port wine on arrival, lunch and entertainment.
