New tourist route “Iberian Douro/Duero – World Heritage Route”

The “Iberian Douro/Duero – World Heritage Route” is a new tourist route that the “Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation” proposes to tourists travelling to Portugal or Spain. It gathers the 11 sites classified by the UNESCO as World Heritage existing along the Douro Valley.

In Portugal – Porto’s Historical Centre, Guimarães Historical Centre, the Alto Douro Wine Region, the Pre-Historic Rock-Art site in the Côa Valley and the extension in Siega Verde.

Those wishing to follow this Route may select the destination(s) to be visited, following the suggestions proposed by the Foundation at www.douroiberico.com . Here, besides general information on each of the classified sites, supported by pictures, videos and maps, one may choose a tourist package adjusted to one’s needs, which will lead to the discovery of the landscapes, patrimony and pleasures of this amazing territory, or simply choose one of the unique experiences available at the portal.

The portal gathers also information on accommodation, gastronomy and cultural activities of the several sites composing the route

This project is the result of the close collaboration between Portuguese and Spanish entities, responsible for the management of each one of the classified sites, therefore, for more precise information, the portal links to the tourist information points existing in the territory in which tourists may enrich their visit with the suggestions they will be given locally.
