If you like music, don´t miss the Portuguese Summer Festivals

Music, sun and sea, partying every night and 850km of beaches: this is the best combination, at summer festivals in Portugal.

You have great concerts, excellent beaches, nice people and nights that last until daybreak.

From shows with major talents to great events in the international calendar, Portugal loves its festivals.

In addition to good music, festivals are an opportunity to know the places in an atmosphere of complete relaxation and fun.

Lisbon and Porto have been acknowledged every year as the ideal destinations for city breaks and their nightlife, the natural continuation of this festive atmosphere, is very vibrant. The highlights are NOS Alive and Super Bock, Super Rock in Lisbon, and NOS Primavera Sound in Porto.

In the Porto and North region, the Vodafone Paredes de Coura festival at the Taboão river beach is a good example of idyllic setting amid nature. Cycling, trekking, canoeing and river bathing are just some suggestions to complement a few well-spent days to perfection.

As for the famous festivals MEO Sudoeste in Zambujeira do Mar and Músicas do Mundo in Sines, both on the Alentejo coast, are close to the sea, with all the advantages it brings. It’s an excellent time for some surfing lessons… in the best spots on the Portuguese coast.

At the Algarve, in Loulé, the Med Festival, transforms the historic city center into a stage filled with a diversity of artistic events inspired by the culture of the Mediterranean countries.

But the best is to visit or to have a look in the programmes to see who’s going to be there. Then, just recharge your batteries and follow the beat!

Festival Med in Loulé: From the 30th of June to the 2nd of July

Come to Loulé at the beginning of the summer and appreciate the typical sounds and flavours of several countries.

For several days, the Med Festival will be bringing life and excitement to the streets of Loulé’s historic centre, benefiting from the presence in the city of many well-known names from the universe of “world music”. Advertising itself under the slogan of “music and much more”, the festival also presents other forms of art, including handicraft exhibitions, dance performances and street theatre. To complete this display of the typical culture of various countries, the festival ground will be filled with a number of different restaurants where you can sample some of the tastes of the traditional cuisine of each of the countries taking part.

Throughout this festival, Loulé, with its narrow winding streets, where it is still possible to sense the atmosphere of Moorish times, will be a real mixture of cultures that nonetheless have many features in common.
