Good news! The Algarve was awarded 🏆 not 1 but 2 prizes by the readers of Today's Golfer Magazine

The Algarve has made it a magnificent seven after sealing another double success at the Today’s Golfer Travel Awards, and its seventh since the awards were launched in 2011.
The Portuguese golfing hotspot retained the two major honors it landed in 2017 after readers of the popular UK golf publication voted it as Best Golf Destination – and Best Value – in Continental Europe.
The sun-drenched region, which boasts 43 fabulous courses, claimed the top prize as Europe’s leading golf destination for the first time last year and maintained its place at the top of the pile with more than 60 per cent of the vote.
Additionally, value for money is still a huge factor in attracting the Algarve’s visitors as it landed almost 40 per cent of the vote to land the Best Value award for the fifth time.
Readers cast their votes in their thousands in the seventh edition of the awards to ensure their favorite courses and venues received recognition.
Today’s Golfer Courses and Travel Editor Kevin Brown said: “The annual TG Travel Awards are totally objective as it is the paying public – our readers – who make the decisions.
“Congratulations to the Algarve, which celebrated more success and continues to be recognized by our readers for its outstanding qualities as a golf destination. It remains the number one choice among UK golfers.”
Maria Manuel Delgado e Silva, Algarve tourism golf product manager, said: “It is testament to the continued hard work throughout our golf tourism industry that we have been voted as Best Golf Destination and Best Value in Continental Europe by the readers of Today’s Golfer. It remains a huge honor to be regarded so highly by UK golfers.
“We have welcomed record numbers of visiting golfers from the UK in recent years and we remain committed to delivering the excellence that golfers expect from a destination like the Algarve.
“We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in helping us win these awards and, above all, to the golfers who visit us in the Algarve.”

Carnival is back to Madeira from the 7th to the 14th of February!

Madeira Carnival festivities offer a variety of activities you can choose from, with the option to enjoy them as a simple spectator or as an active participant, in a event to be held this year between February, 7th to 14th.

Carnival officially begins on the Friday before Lent and only ends on Shrove Tuesday, with the whole island being caught up in the intense and contagious liveliness.

The Carnival festival in Madeira is one of the region’s liveliest festivals. Funchal city wakes up on the Friday morning to the sound of brass bands and carnival parades bringing their good humour to the whole of the downtown area, which is then continued at night with concerts and shows in the Praça do Município for five consecutive days.

On Saturday night, it’s time for the great procession of floats to come out into the street. After following their traditional route through the city, they concentrate in the Praça do Município, where there is much singing and dancing in a magical atmosphere of music and merrymaking.

On the day of the Carnival itself (Shrove Tuesday), Funchal explodes in a great outpouring of merriment. In the afternoon, irreverent merrymakers from all over the world parade in front of the crowd who are in turn infected by this atmosphere of playful caricature - it is time for the popular parade. Throughout this period, the streets of Funchal are decorated with patterns of lights and inundated with background music alluding to the Carnival period.

Enjoy the good life in Portugal

Come to Portugal to enjoy the good life in every way. Just let yourself go and savor all the things we have to offer – the different landscapes, the aromas and flavors of Portuguese gastronomy, the sounds of nature, of fado and the guitar, or the rhythms of international music, or wellness treatments at our spas and thermal resorts, to name but a few

On a trip through the country from north to south, with a short hop to the islands of the Azores and Madeira, enjoying the scenery is a pure delight. On a drive, from a viewpoint or a terrace with a view over the old houses of Porto, the castle of São Jorge in Lisbon or the beautiful beaches of the Algarve, there are numerous possibilities just waiting for you. To accompany this, ask for a glass of a good Portuguese wine from the Douro, the Alentejo or the Dão, to name just three of the demarcated regions, and enjoy every drop.

ARPT Porto e Norte
And while we’re on the subject of flavors, what about trying Portuguese cuisine

From the simplest, such as freshly caught fish, just grilled with a little salt, to traditional dishes like salt cod and Portuguese cozido, there is a huge variety.

And if you prefer sophisticated dining choose a Michelin-star restaurant, where auteur cuisine is in the hands of distinguished chefs.

To take a few souvenirs home with you, wander through the shops or markets. From international clothing and accessory brands and contemporary design shops, especially in Lisbon and Porto, to traditional and gourmet products that are sold throughout the country, you will certainly be spoiled for choice.

During such outings, you can also enjoy visiting some monuments. Start with those that are World Heritage sites. We can suggest three: the Convento de Cristo in Tomar and the Monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça; they are all located in the Centro de Portugal region, but we cannot tell you which is the most beautiful, you’ll have to find that out for yourself. You can also discover some wonderful examples of modern architecture. Some have a cultural programme that is well worth discovering, such as the Casa da Música in Porto, the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, or the Casa das Mudas in Madeira.

There’s nothing like a spa for regaining your equilibrium and well-being. They offer personalized plans and signature treatments of the main international brands, which can be adapted to your needs.

Are you seeking relaxation and stress prevention, anti-ageing, detox or beauty treatments? The Algarve and Madeira have a huge offering in this area, but all the other regions have quality facilities in hotels or at thermal resorts.

And for having a good rest, the range is even bigger: 5-star hotels with every comfort you could dream of, Pousadas offering the best of the region you are visiting, or Tourism in the Country, where authenticity and the welcome are second to none.

Come to Portugal and take good care of yourself!
