Held from 20 to 24 February, the 45th bicycle race Volta ao Algarve (Tour of the Algarve) will have 24 teams at the starting line, 12 of them from the WorldTour and is transmitted live to all of Europe by Eurosport.
The Volta ao Algarve, which in 2018 rose to the category of 2.HC of the International Cyclist Union, is contested by World Tour teams, which include many international cycling figures, most notably renowned time trialists and sprinters.
The tour covers over 700 kilometres distributed into five stages throughout the region’s roadways. In this race, the Algarve showcases its assets as a world-class tourist destination for cycling activities in various facets, as it is a region with excellent natural conditions and landscape features, cycling routes and a large assortment of hotels, culture, history and cuisine.
