The event is open to communities, businesses and all those who want to play an active role in reducing marine pollution and commit to the responsible consumption of ocean resources.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;"><em>Save Our Ocean, Protect Our Future</em></span> is the motto of the conference. </span><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">These are challenging times, which require effective cuts in greenhouse gas emissions: in the last 30 years, the ocean has not absorbed only about 10% of the Earth's temperature increase. </span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">Yet only about 40% of large marine ecosystems are still preserved or used sustainably, and 65-70% of marine habitats are believed to persist.</span></div><div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-weight: 700;">Portugal is more Ocean than Land</span><br style="font-family: arial;" /><span style="font-family: arial;">In a nation with the third largest Exclusive Economic Zone in the European Union, the Portuguese sea makes up 18 times its land area and is therefore of vital importance to the country. </span><span style="font-family: arial;">The Portuguese coast is extensive: between the mainland and the islands there are more than 2,800 km of coastline where you can look out over the horizon, a variety of natural conditions and an exceptional climate, providing unforgettable experiences at every moment. In Portugal, there are 352 beaches awarded the European Blue Flag and 214 are considered Accessible Beaches.</span></span></div><div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div></div><div><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><span style="font-weight: 700;">An ideal country for Surfing</span><br />In Portugal, surf is practised all year round - because every day there are good waves for everyone, from beginners to the most experienced. Some say that there is no other coast in the world with so many spots within such a short distance. Highlights include the Ericeira Surfing Reserve, the first in Europe to be classified by the Save the Waves Coalition, where great moments are generated for surfers and bodyboarders, and the "Nazaré Canyon", where the underwater geology allows the formation of giant and perfect waves, already known worldwide and sought after by the bravest surfers.</span></p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><span style="font-weight: 700;">Marine Natural Parks and Reserve</span><span style="font-weight: 700;">s</span><br />Enjoying free time by the sea is not only about sport, it is also about beautiful and green landscapes in front of an endless mirror of water and beaches that invite you to rest and relax. The Portuguese Natural Parks with an oceanic component are recognised throughout the world, especially those on the west coast, such as Sintra-Cascais and Arrábida, and to the south, the beautiful Ria Formosa with its labyrinthine canals. These are certified destinations, with great marine attributes, where preservation comes first.</span></p></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><span style="font-weight: 700;">For a Better Planet, a Better Tourism</span><br />In this world, tourism must also be guided by sustainable behaviour and do its part in preserving the oceans.<br />Reducing the use of plastic is a major challenge: 11 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean every year, affecting more than a million seabirds and thousands of aquatic mammals. And there is an increasing urgency to make use of all fish, an important source of protein, reducing waste. As followers of the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Mediterranean Diet</span>, this cause is dear to the Portuguese: with so much coastline and so fertile in fish, the country takes sustainability into account in order to preserve the gastronomy and the health of its ocean.</span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">

All of these are fundamental in the protection of the oceans and central to this Conference, which will take place in a country that values its coast so much.</span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">Find out all at </span><a href="https://www.un.org/en/conferences/ocean2022" style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank" title="www.un.org/en/conferences/ocean2022" wbo-id="37">www.un.org/en/conferences/ocean2022</a><span style="font-weight: 700;"> <br />And discover the official program at <a href="http://www.oceanconferenceportugal.com/" style="text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank" title="www.oceanconferenceportugal.com" wbo-id="38">www.oceanconferenceportugal.com</a></span></span></div></div></div>VisitPortugalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616789949843221256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602126231055954436.post-90855663659270259292022-06-21T14:30:00.004+01:002022-06-28T09:45:57.915+01:00Summer in Portugal: A great destination for the responsible traveler!<p><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><span style="color: #252731;">Summer’s almost here!</span><span style="color: #252731;"> </span><a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/sun-and-sea" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #fc9f09; text-decoration-line: none; transition: all 0.15s ease-in-out 0s;">Sun and sand, the sea</a><span style="color: #252731;"> </span><span style="color: #252731;">disappearing into the distance, a deep blue sky and countless pleasant moments are waiting for you in Portugal.</span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;"></span></span></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkk_XtLthDM6jCzIGFksu4CH5aGO9yAeXKQLSDlfyXrHd7qMXXL_gq2C7gBOXvptwEct29w40s9H2p7R6QQ6NtSZARE7gZnJVB4Y2l94DEBC7WMh1iCnZ-KMfUcCg-n2vQKgJq29BdvIVsO25dyzYSe7JzFqDSqThFHqBdxdDtd8dwyXSdnyzzQ9Bd/s1440/Ria%20Formosa%20sunrise_Credit%20%C2%A9Algarve%20Tourism%20Bureau%20copiar.jpg" style="background-color: white; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="532" data-original-width="1440" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkk_XtLthDM6jCzIGFksu4CH5aGO9yAeXKQLSDlfyXrHd7qMXXL_gq2C7gBOXvptwEct29w40s9H2p7R6QQ6NtSZARE7gZnJVB4Y2l94DEBC7WMh1iCnZ-KMfUcCg-n2vQKgJq29BdvIVsO25dyzYSe7JzFqDSqThFHqBdxdDtd8dwyXSdnyzzQ9Bd/w640-h236/Ria%20Formosa%20sunrise_Credit%20%C2%A9Algarve%20Tourism%20Bureau%20copiar.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;">Ria Formosa sunrise ©Algarve Tourism Bureau</span></td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #252731; margin: 0px 0px 12.5px; overflow-wrap: break-word;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">The Portuguese coast is extensive: between the mainland and the islands combined there are more than 2,800 km of coastline where you can find 352 beaches awarded with the European Blue Flag and 214 that are considered Accessible Beaches. <p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;">As you
travel around Portugal you will discover cities, towns and <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/historical-villages" target="_blank">villages</a> that offer
so much for you to see and do. From historical <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/experiencias/arte-e-cultura" target="_blank">heritage</a> such as castles,
museums, churches, veritable treasures from bygone days to the flavors of the
hugely varied <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/experiencias/gastronomia-e-vinhos" target="_blank">cuisine</a> that changes from region to region. And we must not

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;">At this

Sephardic Jewish heritage</span></span></b></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Set out on a journey of discovery through towns, cities, and villages, of a heritage rich in memories evoking the Jewish presence in Portugal.</span></p>
<iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="385" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nJ3c5qYzRto" title="YouTube video player" width="640"></iframe>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: -14.2pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Although
there are some earlier references, it was between the 5th and 15th centuries
that the Sephardic Jewish community, or Iberian Peninsula Jews, settled in the
territory that is now Portugal contributing in the most diverse ways to
Portuguese culture. Protected by the Kings, many of its members, amongst whom
were philosophers, humanists, scientists, and merchants, but also more common
tradesmen, such as cobblers, tailors and weavers, participated actively in
various significant moments of Portuguese history, in particular the foundation
of Portuguese nationality and the settlement of the land, and later contributed
financially and scientifically to the Age of the Discoveries. An important
figure was the great 16th century mathematician and cosmographer, Pedro Nunes,
who invented the nonius, a navigational aid.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: -14.2pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: arial;">In 1496, the
Edict of Expulsion of the Jews from Portugal obliged them to convert to
Catholicism and become New Christians. Many left the country, but many others
remained and secretly kept their faith, forming the so-called marranos or
crypto-Jews. The symbolic marks and inscriptions of those times can still be
seen carved in the houses of former Jewish quarters, whose traces survive in
places like Trancoso, <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/132750" target="_blank">Belmonte</a>, <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/tour-guarda" target="_blank">Guarda</a> and <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/NR/exeres/C54C3A30-D162-4313-8B55-7F5D7AF57F59" target="_blank">Castelo de Vide</a>.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: -14.2pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Rua Nova (New
Street), Rua Direita (Straight Street), Rua da Estrela (Star Street) or
Espinosa are examples of names which indicate the former existence of a Jewish
quarter. If you look at the houses, you will see a large door on the ground
floor giving access to the store and a narrower one to enter the residence,
located on the upper floor. They demonstrate the importance given by the Jews
to trade. In some you can still see the slot for the “Mezuzah” (a parchment
with words from the Torah, which according to Jewish faith should be placed on
the right-hand side of the doorframe).<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: -14.2pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 107%;"></span></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhc8W0prOpSAY9epGs0CyPBDM3Bw4HwG6nX3p7epDMMvUCXO_3kDGOY2Cmt7FFM6JYNNk-IKHRtQgpQEMLtS6BW8-rMXZrE7H9El67fcCDZZcB4wapxFXT3j9EwneNTL_q5RgTqPT38r0SbqCEjqvdcsn8wa1R5ENwG8z1Jxiy2XoqPcRmRaHWHoBPc=s5402" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3601" data-original-width="5402" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhc8W0prOpSAY9epGs0CyPBDM3Bw4HwG6nX3p7epDMMvUCXO_3kDGOY2Cmt7FFM6JYNNk-IKHRtQgpQEMLtS6BW8-rMXZrE7H9El67fcCDZZcB4wapxFXT3j9EwneNTL_q5RgTqPT38r0SbqCEjqvdcsn8wa1R5ENwG8z1Jxiy2XoqPcRmRaHWHoBPc=w640-h426" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="text-align: justify;">Detail of “Mezuzah”</span> -Castelo de Vide old Synagogue,_Credit LeoneNiel-Amatar</span></td></tr></tbody></table><p></p>

first printed works in the country was an edition of the Pentateuch, by Samuel
Gacon, published in 1487 in Faro. Today there are several museums focusing on
the Jewish presence in Portugal, such as in <a href="http://pathsoffaith.prodstageserver.com/en/jewish-legacy/castelo-de-vide-medievel-synagogue" target="_blank">Castelo de Vide</a>, <a href="https://pathsoffaith.com/en/jewish-legacy/belmonte-jewish-museum" target="_blank">Belmonte,</a> Faro and

easy to discover the history of Portuguese Jews by following the Jewry Route, a
testimony to the encounter between peoples and cultures, which we are proud to
preserve.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: -14.2pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: arial;">In their
Diaspora, the Jews also disseminated the Portuguese language and culture.
During World War II, Portugal welcomed many thousands of Jews escaping Nazi
persecution. In 1940, the Portuguese consul in Bordeaux, <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/NR/exeres/BDA72C37-EF3E-4AB5-9047-E438EB15228F" target="_blank">Aristides de SousaMendes</a>, disobeyed the Portuguese government's orders and saved tens of thousands
of lives by granting visas to Jewish refugees. In 1966, Yad Vashem, Holocaust
Memorial, on behalf of the Israeli State, awarded him the title of “Righteous
Among the Nations”. Their existence has been legal in Portugal since 1912, and
today the Jewish community has synagogues in <a href="https://pathsoffaith.com/en/jewish-legacy/shaare-tikvah-synagogue-lisbon">Lisbon</a>, <a href="https://pathsoffaith.com/en/jewish-legacy/kadoorie-mekor-haim-synagogue-porto" target="_blank">Porto</a>, Trancoso and

that is now Portugal has been inhabited for thousands of years and its national
boundaries have been defined for eight centuries. This long history is
reflected in a particular <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/experiencias/arte-e-cultura" target="_blank">culture</a> that is the result of the mixture of the many
peoples who settled here and those that the Portuguese encountered on their journeys
of Discovery.</span></p>
<iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="385" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tjcDCPnYYwE" title="YouTube video player" width="640"></iframe>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It is found
in the villages and towns, in the monuments and traditions, which bring
together influences that the Portuguese have applied creatively. And the
omnipresent sea has also shaped our personality and taken us beyond the continent
of Europe, enabling us to learn and share with the rest of the world.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/jewish-legacy" target="_blank">Jews</a>
have also left their mark, particularly in Central Portugal, providing another
reason for exploration. And there are also many paths travelled by <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/experiencias/turismo-religioso" target="_blank">pilgrims</a>
today, retracing the steps taken long ago to the <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/caminhos-de-santiago-st-james-way" target="_blank">Caminhos de Santiago</a>. <o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

Portuguese, but also a contribution to <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/world-heritage-in-portugal" target="_blank">World Heritage</a>. There are 25 such
classifications by UNESCO in Portugal, including monuments, landscapes, and
intangible heritage.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;">By choosing
a region, an <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/73870" target="_blank">itinerary,</a> or a specific theme, you can discover a unique heritage
and different landscapes, all within a short distance, which still retain the
authenticity of local customs. Moreover, your tour will be complemented to
perfection by the traditional <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/taste-portugal" target="_blank">cuisine</a> and by the genuine empathy and
hospitality of the Portuguese people.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

Yes, it's a Portuguese product!<p><span style="font-family: arial;">Yes, it's a Portuguese product you get to see in special moments such as this one. And this is just one of the many ways you can use this versatile material. Natural and soft, keeps the cool and also the warmth when it is necessary, and it is used to create a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. Cork is one of the most characteristic natural products of Portugal and is part of everyday life without even realizing it.</b></span></p><div class="detail-description" style="line-height: 16px; margin-top: 20px;"><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The <b>stoppers of wine bottles</b> are best known object but there are many articles made of cork:<b> fashion accessories, clothing and shoes, furniture and floor or wall coatings, among others.</b> The recent invention of cork fabric has revolutionized this industry and has highlighted its much appreciated properties: it’s resistant, versatile, recyclable, hypoallergenic and has thermal and acoustic qualities. In addition, it has a very simple transformation process in order to be worked. </span></span></p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img alt="Corticeira Amorim" height="371" src="https://cdn.visitportugal.com/sites/www.visitportugal.com/files/mediateca/Arte_Cortica_Amorim4.jpg" style="border: 0px; height: auto; max-width: 101%; vertical-align: middle;" width="660" /><br /><br />Para In addition to objects that we use daily, cork is part of the history of Portugal and can be found in many monuments and points of interest:<br /><br />- in <span style="font-weight: 700;">Convento de Cristo in Tomar</span>, a World Heritage site, the window of the Sala do Capítulo (Chapter Room) is one of the places well worth visiting for its symbolism and connection to the history of the Discoveries. Among the elements carved in stone we find cork oak trunks, recalling its use in the caravels of the Portuguese navigators.<br /><br />- the monks knew quite well that cork could make the environment more comfortable. Examples of this are the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Convento dos Capuchos in Sintra</span>, the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Convento de Santa Cruz do Buçaco</span> and the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Convento da Serra da Arrábida</span>, where the cells and some common areas are lined with cork.<br /><br />- the <span style="font-weight: 700;">18th century nativity sets</span>, by the sculptor <span style="font-weight: 700;">Machado de Castro</span>, with terracotta figures in cork scenarios are a reference in the history of Portuguese decorative arts. One opf them can be seen in <span style="font-weight: 700;">Basílica da Estrela</span> in Lisbon.<br /><br />- in <span style="font-weight: 700;">Sintra</span>, the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Chalet da Condessa d'Edla</span> was built and decorated in line with the romantic spirit of the 19th century. On the doorframes, windows and glasses, cork is one of the most striking decorative elements.<br /><br />- in the Algarve, <span style="font-weight: 700;">São Brás de Alportel</span> is a location where the cork industry was very important for its development. Currently it is the centre of a Cork Route.<br /><br />- the history of cork is also present in local museums, which can be ethnographic such as the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Museum José Régio in Portalegre</span>, or linked to industrial archaeology, such as the <span style="font-weight: 700;">Ecomuseum of Seixal</span>.</span></span></p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img alt="Corticeira Amorim" height="371" src="https://cdn.visitportugal.com/sites/www.visitportugal.com/files/mediateca/Arte_Cortica_Amorim2.jpg" style="border: 0px; height: auto; max-width: 101%; vertical-align: middle;" width="660" /></span></span></p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Portugal is the world's leading cork producer, accounting for over 60% of the volume of world exports, and it has an area of cork oak corresponding to 25% of the area that exists worldwide. So when travelling across the country, especially in the Alentejo, notice how the cork oak is one of the most common trees in the landscape.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">Do you know that...?</span><br />As cork is a highly versatile natural product, it allows one to do practically unimaginable things. Take a look at the examples. <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">A dress for Lady Gaga</span><br />It was with cork fabric from Pelcor that designer Teresa Martins recently worked a complete look that she created for Lady Gaga. Inspired by the music of renowned singer and Klimt's masterpiece, which Vienna paid homage to by celebrating his 150th anniversary, Teresa Martins created a cork dress veneered in gold and silver and hand-embroidered with beads and metallic threads, recreating the textures and compositions that we see in the artist’s paintings.<br />The dress that symbolizes the fusion between fashion, music and art took 2 years to be produced and was offered to Lady Gaga, who used it at an ArtRave after the concert she gave in Lisbon in November 2014. The moment was so intense that Lady Gaga shared it on social networks.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">Works of art made of cork stoppers</span><br />After being used on wine bottles, cork stoppers may seem useless, but there are artists that give them a new function and use them to create works of art.<br /><br />Scott Gundersen is an American artist from Chicago who uses cork stoppers in his works. The first face that he created was that of Jeanne in 2009, with 3842 stoppers and in 2010 he created the face of a friend, Grace. This gigantic work took the artist 50 hours to do and he used 9217 cork stoppers. It is also his way of drawing attention to the importance of recycling and sustainable art.<br />At the invitation of Tourism of Portugal, Scott Gundersen presented the reproduction of a portrait of King Philip VI and Queen Leticia, at the international tourism fair, FITUR in Madrid. The picture is composed of more than 30,000 stoppers, 2,36m tall and 3.3m long. It weighs about 140 kg.</span></span></p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="border-color: initial; border-image: initial; border-style: initial; height: auto;"><img alt="Scott Gunderson" height="347" src="https://cdn.visitportugal.com/sites/www.visitportugal.com/files/mediateca/Scott-Gundersen_d.jpg" style="border: 0px; height: auto; max-width: 101%; vertical-align: middle;" width="667" /></span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">Insulation used by NASA</span><br />The Portuguese company Corticeira Amorim is one of the leading partners that provides insulation solutions for NASA.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: 700;">A cork Surfboard</span><br />The Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara, who surfed one of the biggest waves in the world, has a surfboard made entirely from Portuguese cork. The execution is due to the workshop of Machado de Castro and his disciples and it is believed that he himself has shaped some figures.</div></span></span><p></p></div>VisitPortugalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616789949843221256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602126231055954436.post-48937719843928549652021-12-17T11:25:00.001+00:002021-12-17T11:25:44.634+00:00The community festivities in Campo Maior were inscribed on UNESCO 's Intangible Heritage list<p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhJfTYsk9gV-WJyeU2pLQkLELGLHXvvDiQ6jA3S5IXU1C2K8-D-4hBTy1LbAQtO3BT-OWTAFPTcDkS4BWGpD7xbsccc_95fRXkdCgv6UwwuTlQzVQqkx8FgNdWsXCmSAIrBPwovIfjiVvjQD4XY18R8h2_eJyh_8TuBZ1mJbUeFeh706avu5P4n2Eb8=s1024" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="815" data-original-width="1024" height="510" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhJfTYsk9gV-WJyeU2pLQkLELGLHXvvDiQ6jA3S5IXU1C2K8-D-4hBTy1LbAQtO3BT-OWTAFPTcDkS4BWGpD7xbsccc_95fRXkdCgv6UwwuTlQzVQqkx8FgNdWsXCmSAIrBPwovIfjiVvjQD4XY18R8h2_eJyh_8TuBZ1mJbUeFeh706avu5P4n2Eb8=w640-h510" width="640" /></a></span></span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br />The Co<a href="https://campomaior.pt/en/festas-do-povo-en/" target="_blank">mmunity Festivities of Campo Maior</a> is a popular event during which the streets of <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/NR/exeres/37B62920-C329-4F79-87DD-12CA4212D85C" target="_blank">Campo Maior</a>, <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/destinos/alentejo" target="_blank">Alentejo region</a>, in Portugal, are decorated with millions of paper flowers in various shapes, colours and patterns. </span></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;">The community, which is organized in street commissions, decides the date and develops the concept of the decorative elements and the colour theme. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh-gobU1VEzcYKHVV6LO-oxi8QUPbklA_lqV_NdiF-WgYIUHoPAQW_7r81QGgbKY7XlV7l8kqsMlOrj-0BZIL6Wd8RqKRjr8UZ2vZgbaaYp2xEFn4u9Rl28VIrrIrHXEIw37Y9ziXCV_1Bzf7s78yDmGtTBKTgKM1QkScgM4FGUymOvc452BmzXG8M3=s1024" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="609" data-original-width="1024" height="190" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh-gobU1VEzcYKHVV6LO-oxi8QUPbklA_lqV_NdiF-WgYIUHoPAQW_7r81QGgbKY7XlV7l8kqsMlOrj-0BZIL6Wd8RqKRjr8UZ2vZgbaaYp2xEFn4u9Rl28VIrrIrHXEIw37Y9ziXCV_1Bzf7s78yDmGtTBKTgKM1QkScgM4FGUymOvc452BmzXG8M3=s320" width="320" /></a></span></span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;">Members then work on the decorations over a period of nine months. On the day of the festival, the community fills the streets. </span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">The Community Festivities started as a religious celebration called ‘Festivities in Honour of St. John the Baptist’. The practice is transmitted within families and in schools.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;">Plus info:<br />- <a href="https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/community-festivities-in-campo-maior-01604" target="_blank">https://ich.unesco.org/community-festivities-in-campo-maior</a><br />- <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/NR/exeres/37B62920-C329-4F79-87DD-12CA4212D85C" target="_blank">https://www.visitportugal.com/Campo Maior</a><br />- <a href="https://campomaior.pt/en/festas-do-povo-en/" target="_blank">https://campomaior.pt/en/festas-do-povo-en/</a></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: x-small;">Source: UNESCO</span></p></div>VisitPortugalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616789949843221256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602126231055954436.post-45160194087157353382021-12-15T12:17:00.002+00:002021-12-16T09:55:04.675+00:00New Michelin Star Restaurants in Portugal for 2022<p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiU66AHbUgnIg6iHXJslAmRZtMpnm8nMzypSJyvSAQB9uTUBrYEflXRiHdqQs5m9I-SMt7-RyH3q_qpZy5kDEgSoYnvuQC1DrVKoJK0N8D7qayEfudt3UsJOBFe64fuj7nl-_YbnzQC_tvAlcXZ8qKyw1uHDNa_X8vwQ7d-JwVtEDqvwwxMvDNAZMwq=s757" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="375" data-original-width="757" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiU66AHbUgnIg6iHXJslAmRZtMpnm8nMzypSJyvSAQB9uTUBrYEflXRiHdqQs5m9I-SMt7-RyH3q_qpZy5kDEgSoYnvuQC1DrVKoJK0N8D7qayEfudt3UsJOBFe64fuj7nl-_YbnzQC_tvAlcXZ8qKyw1uHDNa_X8vwQ7d-JwVtEDqvwwxMvDNAZMwq=w640-h318" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br />Returning to the head-to-head format, yesterday evening in a <span style="background-color: white;">ceremony held at the Palau de les Arts, in Valencia, Spain, </span><a href="https://guide.michelin.com/es/es/articulo/news-and-views/la-guia-michelin-espana-portugal-2022-los-jovenes-talentos-siguen-al-alza-en-toda-la-peninsula-iberica" target="_blank">Michelin</a> announced the <a href="https://guide.michelin.com/es/es/articulo/news-and-views/guia-michelin-espana-portugal-2022-las-nuevas-estrellas?" target="_blank">Michelin stars</a> and <a href="https://guide.michelin.com/es/es/articulo/news-and-views/nuevos-bib-gourmand-de-la-guia-michelin-espana-portugal-2022" target="_blank">Bib Gourmands</a> 2022 for Spain and Portugal. </span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Portugal has 5 new restaurants with 1 Michelin star, making now a total of <span style="background-color: white;">40 stars awarded to 33 restaurants across the country. </span><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="background-color: white;">Two new stars traveled to the Algarve, respectively to the restaurants of "</span><span style="background-color: white;"><b>Al Sud</b>", </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #252525;">the new fine dining restaurant at the Palmares Resort in the western Algarve, </span><span style="background-color: white;">by Chef Louis Angels and to "</span><span style="background-color: white;"><b>A Ver Tavira</b>", in the </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #252525;">town of Tavira, </span><span style="background-color: white;">by Chef Luís Brito. dinner (Consoada) and <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/426033" target="_blank">cod</a> dishes are served, although in the north, octopus is
also an option. For dessert, you cannot miss the <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/425995" target="_blank">Bolo-Rei</a>, <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/426159" target="_blank">broas castelares</a> and

At midnight, the Rooster's Mass is celebrated and, in churches as well as at
home, there is a special place for the <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/139282" target="_blank">nativity scene</a>. Gifts are exchanged
after midnight or the following morning, depending on each family.<br />

In places like Bragança, Guarda and Castelo Branco, a<a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/node/139298" target="_blank"> wood log</a> is still burned
during the night of December 24, in a large bonfire in the churchyard. It
serves as a meeting place to gather friends and neighbors and wish everyone a
Merry Christmas. <br />

And then there is <a href="https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/new-year-madeira" target="_blank">Madeira, a favorite destination for New Year festivities</a>, with
its remarkable fireworks display. After New Year's Eve, the festivities end on
Epiphany Day, on January 6th. On the street or in monuments and churches, you
can hear the “Janeiras”, traditional songs that wish for a Good Year.</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>VisitPortugalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616789949843221256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602126231055954436.post-58516935903842155602021-12-09T14:45:00.000+00:002021-12-09T14:45:15.603+00:00Winners of the Competition #280ToChangePortugal<p><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"></span></p><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig9D14QSw3tFGiyyyyfPdh6QWiIv2TeI4h0IgEFc62VgB6l-nccnPm_LWwJGWEI7SrldX7lxK_9IX0eTZQfZnHUDFjQ64nEuZbgi87HU-CRoeiry1b5LVoHOCjR8biw3EPXx6qAkrrf_E/s660/Destaque_Visit_660x383.jpg"><img border="0" data-original-height="383" data-original-width="660" height="372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig9D14QSw3tFGiyyyyfPdh6QWiIv2TeI4h0IgEFc62VgB6l-nccnPm_LWwJGWEI7SrldX7lxK_9IX0eTZQfZnHUDFjQ64nEuZbgi87HU-CRoeiry1b5LVoHOCjR8biw3EPXx6qAkrrf_E/w640-h372/Destaque_Visit_660x383.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: arial;"><span style="color: #242424;"><br /><b>Here are the winners of the #280ToChangePortugal competition, check out their ideas💡:</b></span><br /><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: arial;"><b><i>➡ @JoseJacomeMr</i></b><i> – 2 <span style="font-family: arial;"><o:p></o:p></span></i></span><i>ideas<br /></i></p><div style="text-align: left;"><i><i style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><a href="https://eur06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FJoseJacomeMr%2Fstatus%2F1454405787833573377&data=04%7C01%7C%7C2523b0fe6a334078c78508d9b4131559%7C73c771cd1c754799aa401c9ff3cf3e5e%7C0%7C0%7C637738816329262462%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=JGssylgBXCcnbZVBJgpGHwQyDklvF55Z5ZubbokeH7g%3D&reserved=0">Ideia 1</a>: What if we had 100s of ocean Ambassadors up and down the coast actively monitoring, communicating and preserving our coastline?
