Lisbon’s Award Winning Fontana Park Hotel Due Become Portugal’s First DoubleTree by Hilton

Following a succession of recent brand introductions in the Iberian Peninsula, Hilton Worldwide announced the arrival of DoubleTree by Hilton brand in Portugal with the  Lisbon's Fontana Park Hotel as Hilton's first hotel in the Portuguese capital.

In Portugal itself, the Lisbon property will join Conrad Algarve, which opened in autumn 2012, near to the existing Hilton Vilamoura as Cascatas Golf Resort and Spa, while Hilton Bom Sucesso Obidos Resort opens next winter.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said, "This is a major coup. Not only are we bringing one of Europe's hottest hotel brands to Portugal for the first time, we are doing so in the capital city, while also demonstrating the strength of our portfolio with this becoming our third brand in the country."

Fontana Park Hotel first opened in 2008 and its impressive design quickly won plaudits, including 'Best Interior Design' at the European Hotel Design Awards. The hotel has 139 rooms, nine meeting rooms, two restaurants and a bar.

New Duecitânia Design Hotel in Penela

The new Duecitânia Design Hotel opened last month (December 2012) in the town of Penela.

With the motto Veni, Vidi, Vivi (Come, See and Live) HD The Duecitânia Design Hotel  is a thematic hotel, with a reinvention of Ancient Rome at its essence.

Converted from a 19th century paper factory, the new four-star hotel has 42 guest-rooms comprising a selection of doubles, twins and suites spread across three floors.

Memmo Alfama will be opening in June 2013

The new Memmo Alfama hotel will be located in the heart of the most typical and historic neighborhood of Lisbon: Alfama.

Porto Santa Maria awarded as “Best Summer Hotel” by the tour operator Thomas Cook Northern Europe

The hotel Porto Santa Maria was nominated the number one hotel (amongst 900 hotels from around the world) for the entire summer 2012 activities of the tour operator Thomas Cook Northern Europe.

The tour operator covers several markets including Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

On a scale of zero to five, the Hotel Porto Santa Maria reached an outstanding score of 4.87.

The nomination is based on the results of questionnaires completed by the tour operator’s customers where they were asked to assess the standard of the customer services and accommodation facilities provided.

Also the Eden Mar hotel achieved the 7th place.

The CS Madeira renamed VidaMar Resorts Madeira

The Yeatman Wins Condé Nast “Most Excellent City Hotel” Award

The Yeatman has won the ‘Most Excellent City Hotel’ Award at the Condé Nast Johansens 31st Annual Europe & Mediterranean Awards for Excellence.

The hotly contested accolade is awarded to hotels that have featured in the Condé Nast Johansens Guides and are based on guest nominations and surveys, and regional inspector reports conducted by Condé Nast Johansens.

The four-star Hotel Costa da Caparica has extended its vast range of on-site guest facilities by adding a state-of-the-art gymnasium and massage centre.

The Real Abadia – Congress & Spa Hotel: New Four-star Hotel to Open in Alcobaça

The Real Abadia – Congress & Spa Hotel is the name of a new property currently under construction in the historic town of Alcobaça, less than an hour's drive north of Lisbon.

Inspired by the life of the 12th-century Cistercian monks, it is due to open in spring 2013 in the small village of Capuchos not far from Alcobaça's magnificent monastery.

Besides 32 guest-rooms, which include 6 suites (two adapted for handicapped guests), facilities will include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa with massage area, library and two meeting rooms for up to 70 people.
