The 2014 edition of “Madeira Wine Rally”, is hosted in the spectacular landscapes of the island of Madeira in the beginning of August.
The European Rally Championship is the oldest international competition organised by organised by FIA (the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), and includes 10 events in 10 European countries.
The Madeira Wine rally is one of the most important events in the championship and is the region’s biggest automobile event. The big names of world racing bring their racing cars to this great sports event that features many dozens of participants. The Madeiran race begins on Friday with the dispute of the "shakedown" at Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses, while on Saturday and Sunday, the competitors will travel the island enthusing the thousands of spectators that populate the mountains of Madeira looking for the best spot to observe the speed and skill of the drivers.
The rally is named after one of the main products in Madeira, the liqueur wine that was already highly popular in European courts in the 18th century due to its unique aroma and flavour.

Regata Transquadra arrives to Madeira Island at the end of July
The sailors of the Transquadra regatta will begin to arrive in Madeira on 31st of July, coming from the city of Saint Nazaire, in France.About a hundred sailboats from different origins participate in this fantastic transatlantic sailing race, and close to 500 people are expected to visit the Region, including sailors and their families.
During the boats concentration for departure at Saint Nazaire Recreational Port, between the 23rd and 27th of July, takes place the "Village Transquadra" whose programme includes the “Madeira Day” celebration, officially scheduled for July 25th.
The number of daily visitors is expected to reach 1,000, between public, nautical industry professionals and specialty media, where Madeira Tourism will be present with an 18 m2 stand.

New direct flights from Madrid and Santiago to Porto Santo Island
Since July 6th up to September 7th, Air Nostrum is flying weekly from Madrid and
Santiago Compostela to Porto Santo Island, Madeira.
This is a
charter operation promoted by the tour operator Costas Galicia and the flights are operated with a CRJ-900.

This eclectic festival gives voice to several art forms: music, painting, theatre, literature, cinema, photography and so on!
The festival will be mostly centred at the breathtaking open air amphitheatre in Quinta das Lágrimas. Absolutely outstanding!
